WELCOME!

It is an honor for me that you have visited my site. This would introduce to you my self-written essays on the different ways of writing an essay. The site includes reflective, static-descriptive, comparison and contrast, cause and effect, definition, argumentative and reflective essay 2. This is part of our requirement in our writing activity outputs made in our ENGLCOM course in our tertiary eduation. I hope that this, be a help to you.

Writing for me is a written form of thoughts that circulates in our minds on a particular subject. It could make a person's mood, for some use this way to throw their emotions. Writing is also a self-exression because some could only express theirselves through writing and it enables one to open up and say what they want to say without anyone getting affected.

These writing activities helped me enchance my English language skills since this requires reading of references which lets me read a lot. Also, through wide reading, my reading comprehension is exercised as well as my vocabulary because I often encounter unfamiliar terms that makes me search for the meaning of it.

Argumentative Essay: "Human Cloning"

Living things are made to reproduce. This is much applicable for us humans who are to take good care of the masterpieces of God. As time passes, people develop and come up with new ideas. One of the products of the human mind which was once discovered is cloning. Andra (2004), states that cloning is a way of producing a genetic twin of an organism without undergoing sexual reproduction. Although other people choose human cloning as a new treatment for infertility so they may pass their genes to the next generations of the family--at least somewhat identical to them, human cloning must not be used to answer their problems because (1) it hinders the cloned human to experience a normal life; (2) it degrades the dignity of a person for it forbids the person to its uniqueness; (3) it violates the law of God that we are made to reproduce naturally under marriage.

As human beings, to experience a normal life is a right given to us that we are to enjoy that a cloned human may not. The human life is a gift from God that we must treasure. Andra(2008) states that principles and the meaning of human life should be first discussed as well as questioned. Undergoing this kind of process would look as if a human is just a piece of property that can be reproduced exactly as it was anytime. This would mean like the usual reproduction be turned into a manufacturing process for they are to be made in laboratories. We should also think on its possible effects on the part of the human cloned especially the sufferings that he or she may encounter due to comparisons. Also, there is a possibility that they may not have equal rights and treatment as the normal humans.

Being unique from others is one that defines you as a person for it gives your own identity. Human beings are uniquely made from each other. Humans have the right to be different. Now, cloned humans are not given this chance for they have the same genetic build up of the host. Human dignity also includes the special treatment on the human beings because all humans should be treated as humans and nothing less than that (Andra, 2008). For this, cloned humans are not to be treated as if they were real. Giving an equal treatment to a naturally made human and a cloned human would mean disrespect to the human life. Also, it involves a risky process wherein destruction of massive human embryos take place when undergoing human cloning.

God is the reason on why we are here on earth for He made us His co-creators and human cloning violates God because when cloning of humans is done, human embryos are destroyed and human embryos are future humans. This is killing. According to the fifth commandment of God, we do not have the right to kill and to take away their rights to be humans someday. God has chosen us to be His co-creators so we should not disappoint Him for the responsibility he has entrusted to us.

Human cloning is a man-made process that humans discovered in order to answer problems of infertility and for some other reasons. But then, cloning humans is not the right choice. In this issue, we are tested by God. We should be able to see and appreciate the things we have. Also, we must consider the things that might happen on the person cloned. It is not yet proven if a cloned human would have a soul. Rights on living a normal life may be hindered, uniqueness will not be with him and violation of God's law will also be made.

Definition Essay: A Journey Beyond the Reality

Dreams, as defined in the Meriam Webster's dictionary is a series of thoughts, images or emotions occurring during sleep; to indulge in daydreams or fantasies; a dream-like vision. Many would think of it as just something that could happen during asleep but this does not merely pertain to that for dreaming can occur anytime as long as we are alive. Life is too much full of events that some maybe are already happy and contented on what they have in life. Some would not be so satisfied, wondering why their live are not as convenient as others, which paved way to having a goal and a dream that someday, they would achieve the life they want and fulfill what they think is lacking. Now, I will be just focusing on its other meaning, the dream that happens to a person. A dream is indeed a vast journey which includes communication of the body, mind and spirit, fulfilling what is lacking in one's life that it offers free access to a person -- the opportunities for creativity, fun, adventures, imagination and all that is not available on a person's life.

There are different ways in which we could define what dream is. First, dream that pertains to the ability of a man to journey everywhere and think without limits while sleeping. There is what we call a good dream wherein we see and feel good about our dream as if we want to remain sleeping. It lets us forget our problems and it allows us to be at this state that would really be impossible. Anyone could experience this kind of dream especially when thinking of something superbly during the day that if penetrates the mind even until sleeping at night. There is also a nightmare which occur in a dream of a person when he had a stressful and problematic day. It gives a huge impact to one's response in life and when not solved during the day, remains on the human mind until sleeping resulting to a nightmare. Lastly, daydreaming, is dreaming wherein we tend to dream even we are awake; our mind goes to other things or places and we lose our focus on what is happening in the reality.

Since dreams are not taught in school, misconceptions on this arise among humans. For example, in a family, when a child asks his mother about his dream last night, the mother does not know what to answer and simple disregards it since she has no idea or just knows little information on it. The mother might as well tell her son that it is nothing. So, the child would keep on thinking and be bothered about his dream. Some dreams would be helpful in one's life since it may give you a hint or clue on what you should do in a situation or even guide you as life goes on. A person experiencing daydreaming will be looking as if he is just physically present but mentally absent. In experiencing nightmares, sounds may be produced as a way of defense on what is happening in the dream, since he cannot do anything on the situation for it is just a dream. He or she may also be doing actions like punching or kicking depending on the situation presented. Repeated dreams give a greater impact on a person for they occur several times. There are several effects of a dream to a person. When a dream is not clearly presented or cut, especially when interesting, a person would be having the tendency of longing for the dream. He or she would want to sleep again and continue what has happened and hopes to see it clearly. Some dreams, when not properly interpreted, would be making a person draw wrong conclusions on it. If dreams are properly interpreted, the person would be at ease, relieving a person's longing on the meaning of his or her dream. He or she will not be having incorrect conclusions on the dream.

Dreams may have different meanings but these are all products of the minds of people. We should be able to learn to live in the reality and not get stucked in the dream in spite of the sense of happiness that it brings to you. We should face out lives with strength and have the will to live according to God's will. Dreams may be a guide to one's life but it is not a reliable source.

Cause and Effect Essay: Cigarette Smoking is Dangerous to our Health

All of us encounter problems in life but we have our unique ways on dealing with them.  Cigarette smoking is one of the ways wherein others think that it would relieve stress due to problems.; this is what we call casual smoking. On the other hand, habitual smoking which health experts treat as a psychological addiction would trigger more serious health complications (Martin, 2004). Cigarette smoking has other harmful effects on nature for these cigarettes are composed of toxic chemicals. A cigarette contains a lot of toxic ingredients which travels throughout the body, resulting in damage in many ways. It is composed of approximately 4000 chemicals on it, hundreds of which are toxic. Others may smoke to relieve stress that they become unmindful of its components and its harmful effects to the environment and on their body that may lead to death in many cases (Martin, 2008).

Smoking also affects the environment. Cigarette smoking causes air pollution since when a cigarette is burned, smoke together with its chemicals are produced. Cigarette butts and cigarette filters make drainages and streams get clogged. In addition, those cigarette butts still contain chemicals, so, groundwater may be contaminated with it. A lot of people who smoke throw cigarette butts anywhere which is a form of littering. Worst thing that could happen is the careless throwing of cigar butts with a fire still on it that it would start a fire in a place, causing air pollution and damage to the area (Cooper, 2010)

People who smoke would be having a noticeably different physical appearance than that of a non-smoking person. Common problems of smokers are the development of stain on their teeth and bad breath which would greatly affect one's social life for one would be conscious on it while socializing. Aging would be faster on smoker; hair loss and rapid skin aging. Smokers would feel a lot older than what they are.

Smoking kills! This is what  experts say with their proven studies on this. It may not be directly smoking as its main cause, but the worsening of the effects that cigarette smoking gives as continued habitual smoking is done. Increased heart rate and blood pressure is felt due to the mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide that enters a body when smoking. Cancer may also develop and lung complications like emphysema, an illness that slowly rots the lungs. Bronchitis may also occur. Lung cance is the common cancer sickness that might develop on a smoker (Johnson, 2010).

Cigarette smoking indeed is a deadly habit. Stress may be relieved for some but more problems on complication on the health would follow. This would not solve one's problem but will worsen it. We should be mindful of its components for life is important. We should learn to think a lot and analyze before engaging to this kind of thing because this would not only affect you but also the people around you.

Comparison and Contrast Assay: "Urban Area vs. Rural Area

All of us need a place to live in. We have a place called our home; it may be a place where we feel comfortable and a place where we would eventually spend our days or just get forced to stay due to circumstances. As a result, some would think that life is unfair since the difference in the state of living of people is really visible. Nowadays, people in rural areas want to transfer to the urban area due to several reasons. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast rural areas and urban areas in terms of living and the environment to clearly understand why urbanization happens.

Both rural and urban areas are created for us to enjoy, to live and to show care for. They both produce products wherein people in urban areas may be relying on the people in rural areas and vise versa. As time passes by, they grow and develop naturally and on how people would respond to changes that happen. They serve as a means of income to a country since unique tourist spots are found here, either man-made or naturally occurring sceneries. One could stay in urban areas since either of them could make a person live and earn a living.

The urban area is also known as a city, wherein numerous tall and huge buildings are constructed, wide usage of technology is demonstrated and busy ares are occupied by busy people. In the urban areas, we could notice excessive industrialization which has invited problems like pollution and other human character-related problems like laziness. Modern amenities  and modern day facilities are widely used in order to ease and improve the way of living. We could notice that the houses are built too near each other which indicate overpopulation in the area. The urban area is truly blessed with these technological advancements. Due to these technological advancements, opportunities increase, so, people in the rural areas tend to get attracted to come to the urban areas, making it more overpopulated. Despite of the negative effects mentioned, modernization of living also kept people around the world to get in touch and to transact in spite the distance. People here enjoy comfortable and luxurious living for technology helps people in their work as well as in relaxation.

In the rural areas, too many concrete constructions are not seen and the areas are not crowded. The people here are noticeable not as busy as those in the urban areas. Houses are see built far from each other which indicates a healthy population. Simple way of living is practiced among the people settled here in a way that they are deprived or slightly deprived with technology since they actually earn their living through farming and other agricultural-related work. For this, lesser opportunities are offered. We could say that rural areas may be less industrialized but then, they are rich in relationship with nature.

Spending each day of our lives here on earth is truly a blessing. Living in a rural or urban area has really several differences. But then, these differences should not totally affect the individuality of a person for it is up to a person on hoe he or she would respond to the environment or area he or she is settled.

Static-Descriptive Essay: Graduation Calls for a Celebration

Having the opportunity to study in a quality school, is one that should not be wasted. Students work hard in their studies in order to get into their goal of graduating to make their parents proud and of course, be successful someday. High school life is one of the  happiest and most memorable of the times in a life of a person. This is the period wherein we often get pressured by our friends and forced to try something out of consciousness. On the day of a high school graduation, feelings of sadness and nervousness tend to conquer an individual, worrying about what may happen after graduation. But then, this does not mark only the end but opens doors of opportunities and new relationships. Because graduation had passed, a follow up celebration of gratitude is usually celebrated, often called a graduation party.

It was the day of our graduation when one of my closest friends approached me, inviting me to attend her graduation party the next day. All that were invited gathered like ants at one side of the gymnasium, talking. Excitement was clearly drawn on our freshly make-up faces; knowing it was a pool party. It was a great sunny noontime when we arrived, carrying big smiles on our faces. More excitement came into us; we started jumping like children as soon as we saw the calm, blue-colored pool-- big enough for all of us to be accommodated and the flowers that bloomed on its sides. We immediately dressed up in our swimming attires at a newly renovated ladies room. We energetically jumped into the pool and swam as if were ignorant of it. Feelings of like no other were felt by all of us. Afterwards, we heard our stomachs grumble, signalling be filled up as the food was brought near us. Our eyes popped, seeing the pizzas in its indulging smell of pepperoni and cheese delivered from shakey's. With the huge pizzas and plates set on the table, we all sat excitedly. We prayed the grace before meals, thanking God for all the blessing and for the food in front of us as well. Afterwards, we impatiently get our pizzas out of the feeling of too much hunger. We soon felt tired, came out of the pool and put those muscles relaxed. Tiredness affected us despite the heavenly feeling with our friends near us and the fulfilling fun felt by all of us before we bid temporary goodbyes. Right after swimming; we went to the bay side and slowly walked, exchanging stories, feeling the cold air and the romantic ambiance while watching the stunning view of the sunset from the place where we were.

Being able to achieve one's goal relieves one's mind after giving out a full effort. Time passes by, so we need to move on and go with the flow. We should not get stuck in the past. Graduation may be sad but we should learn to open our hearts and minds to new possibilities of life.

Process Essay: "The Goal of Losing Weight"

Getting in shape is what almost all of us want. Many of us today are problematic on how to lose weight and get the body we have always wanted. Some would want an immediate remedy or solution to achieve that slim body in no time. But then, slimming down one's body should be done slowly. Since most of us are not aware of what we eat, this goal remains a goal. Our food intake is not controlled and we do not mind the chemical it contains. There are effective steps on how to satisfy one's body consciousness and finally achieve the goal of losing weight.

Water is very essential to our body. Drinking plenty of water, at least 8-10 glasses a day could help one's body lose weight fast. This is one healthy way proven by doctors that would keep one's body in shape. Eating a balanced and healthy meal would mean a good diet for it stabilizes a body. One should also eat on time since skipping meals would trigger one to eat more. Six meals a day is advised and not more than six hours of not eating. Your largest meal should be during breakfast and your last meal should be three hours prior sleeping. Since most of us are not following a proper diet, what we eat should be changed into following the food pyramid, the right food in its proper amount. Intake of calorie-rich foods should also be avoided since these foods contribute a lot in making one's body bigger. Pick healthy foods that would substitute to the unhealthy foods that you take like wheat and fiber-rich foods that it promotes good digestion. Fruits and vegetables are advised for breakfast because these would give enough energy and strength but most of all, the good nutrition we need in order to start our day right and do our everyday work properly. Enough sleep of at least 6-8 hours is also needed so we could repair our body and give back the energy we have used during our work during the day that have passed. Lastly, regular exercise of at least three times a week would balance one's body and make one sweat and promote good circulation of the blood all over our body.

One must be able to obtain self confidence and follow these ways of losing weight in order to achieve the goal of getting in shape.
