Dreams, as defined in the Meriam Webster's dictionary is a series of thoughts, images or emotions occurring during sleep; to indulge in daydreams or fantasies; a dream-like vision. Many would think of it as just something that could happen during asleep but this does not merely pertain to that for dreaming can occur anytime as long as we are alive. Life is too much full of events that some maybe are already happy and contented on what they have in life. Some would not be so satisfied, wondering why their live are not as convenient as others, which paved way to having a goal and a dream that someday, they would achieve the life they want and fulfill what they think is lacking. Now, I will be just focusing on its other meaning, the dream that happens to a person. A dream is indeed a vast journey which includes communication of the body, mind and spirit, fulfilling what is lacking in one's life that it offers free access to a person -- the opportunities for creativity, fun, adventures, imagination and all that is not available on a person's life.
There are different ways in which we could define what dream is. First, dream that pertains to the ability of a man to journey everywhere and think without limits while sleeping. There is what we call a good dream wherein we see and feel good about our dream as if we want to remain sleeping. It lets us forget our problems and it allows us to be at this state that would really be impossible. Anyone could experience this kind of dream especially when thinking of something superbly during the day that if penetrates the mind even until sleeping at night. There is also a nightmare which occur in a dream of a person when he had a stressful and problematic day. It gives a huge impact to one's response in life and when not solved during the day, remains on the human mind until sleeping resulting to a nightmare. Lastly, daydreaming, is dreaming wherein we tend to dream even we are awake; our mind goes to other things or places and we lose our focus on what is happening in the reality.
Since dreams are not taught in school, misconceptions on this arise among humans. For example, in a family, when a child asks his mother about his dream last night, the mother does not know what to answer and simple disregards it since she has no idea or just knows little information on it. The mother might as well tell her son that it is nothing. So, the child would keep on thinking and be bothered about his dream. Some dreams would be helpful in one's life since it may give you a hint or clue on what you should do in a situation or even guide you as life goes on. A person experiencing daydreaming will be looking as if he is just physically present but mentally absent. In experiencing nightmares, sounds may be produced as a way of defense on what is happening in the dream, since he cannot do anything on the situation for it is just a dream. He or she may also be doing actions like punching or kicking depending on the situation presented. Repeated dreams give a greater impact on a person for they occur several times. There are several effects of a dream to a person. When a dream is not clearly presented or cut, especially when interesting, a person would be having the tendency of longing for the dream. He or she would want to sleep again and continue what has happened and hopes to see it clearly. Some dreams, when not properly interpreted, would be making a person draw wrong conclusions on it. If dreams are properly interpreted, the person would be at ease, relieving a person's longing on the meaning of his or her dream. He or she will not be having incorrect conclusions on the dream.
Dreams may have different meanings but these are all products of the minds of people. We should be able to learn to live in the reality and not get stucked in the dream in spite of the sense of happiness that it brings to you. We should face out lives with strength and have the will to live according to God's will. Dreams may be a guide to one's life but it is not a reliable source.
