Living things are made to reproduce. This is much applicable for us humans who are to take good care of the masterpieces of God. As time passes, people develop and come up with new ideas. One of the products of the human mind which was once discovered is cloning. Andra (2004), states that cloning is a way of producing a genetic twin of an organism without undergoing sexual reproduction. Although other people choose human cloning as a new treatment for infertility so they may pass their genes to the next generations of the family--at least somewhat identical to them, human cloning must not be used to answer their problems because (1) it hinders the cloned human to experience a normal life; (2) it degrades the dignity of a person for it forbids the person to its uniqueness; (3) it violates the law of God that we are made to reproduce naturally under marriage.
As human beings, to experience a normal life is a right given to us that we are to enjoy that a cloned human may not. The human life is a gift from God that we must treasure. Andra(2008) states that principles and the meaning of human life should be first discussed as well as questioned. Undergoing this kind of process would look as if a human is just a piece of property that can be reproduced exactly as it was anytime. This would mean like the usual reproduction be turned into a manufacturing process for they are to be made in laboratories. We should also think on its possible effects on the part of the human cloned especially the sufferings that he or she may encounter due to comparisons. Also, there is a possibility that they may not have equal rights and treatment as the normal humans.
Being unique from others is one that defines you as a person for it gives your own identity. Human beings are uniquely made from each other. Humans have the right to be different. Now, cloned humans are not given this chance for they have the same genetic build up of the host. Human dignity also includes the special treatment on the human beings because all humans should be treated as humans and nothing less than that (Andra, 2008). For this, cloned humans are not to be treated as if they were real. Giving an equal treatment to a naturally made human and a cloned human would mean disrespect to the human life. Also, it involves a risky process wherein destruction of massive human embryos take place when undergoing human cloning.
God is the reason on why we are here on earth for He made us His co-creators and human cloning violates God because when cloning of humans is done, human embryos are destroyed and human embryos are future humans. This is killing. According to the fifth commandment of God, we do not have the right to kill and to take away their rights to be humans someday. God has chosen us to be His co-creators so we should not disappoint Him for the responsibility he has entrusted to us.
Human cloning is a man-made process that humans discovered in order to answer problems of infertility and for some other reasons. But then, cloning humans is not the right choice. In this issue, we are tested by God. We should be able to see and appreciate the things we have. Also, we must consider the things that might happen on the person cloned. It is not yet proven if a cloned human would have a soul. Rights on living a normal life may be hindered, uniqueness will not be with him and violation of God's law will also be made.
